Episode 28: Why am I still a Christian? Panel Conversation

Last Sunday Night, Originals collaborated with Highway Church for the PM Service.
This episode is a recording from the night that gave attention to a thought-provoking question: "Why am I still a Christian?" This question is even more relevant in a society that is currently deemed "Post-Christian", that is, a society moving further and further away from the traditional Judaic Christian values that our laws and culture was once based on. While we need a deep foundation and understanding of scripture, why we believe what we believe is equally as important.

Caleb & Matt were joined on a panel by an extrordinary line-up of guests. Donna O'Neill and Owen Sillars each shared some of their life story, where God has shown up in various seasons of life, not just the smooth-sailing, but the depths of terror and dispair. These experiences shape a testimony that become the reasons why you can believe and trust in God and call yourself a Christian.

Daniel, a qualified Journalist, and Poppy, a student and Founding Owner of Lemon Lane Co. somehow also manage to run an incredible ministry for Highschool Students - Highway Youth (check out @hwyyouth). Together, they're a dynamic and passionate powerhouse, while still among the most down-to-earth people you'll meet.

We ask the question on everyone's mind - Dan, how did you do it? Once just his sister's bestfriend, he wooed Poppy to become his wife! We debunk the first year of marriage, a season most people warn is "the hardest year", talk about preparation for marriage, love languages and expectation of life after marriage.

In this episode, Caleb and Matt sit down with Ricky Brown, a household name within the Originals sphere. Ricky is 35 and is now a stay-at-home-dad. Oh, and did we mention he's retired? Until recently, Ricky owned a very successful Production company, which saw him producing events from small PA's to concerts and festivals, including mixing for Muse. In addition, Ricky took over his Grandmother's share portfolio and commercial real estate business, both which he has grown substatially.

He is the founder of Outland Denim, a clothing company created as an avenue to educate and employ victims of sex trafficking. Amongst many other things (of course!) the trio discusses feeling powerless against adversity, stepping out in faith, and being apart of the solution. Your ears may also cry as the most annoying sound ever seeps into your brain like a salty bowl of soup (you can blame Matt for that one). I decided to bring you along for the ride and believe me, it's a good one! This week I chat with my mum, Kirsten, about what it's like to go through a season of bad mental health, how looking outside of yourself can set you free, what the ideal type of workout pants are and how God hasn't designed us to be fearful.
